Hello. My name is Emily Hanger, née Hedberg. I am an acupuncturist and Holistic Pelvic Care™ practitioner. I also incorporate the ancient Daoist practice of Stone Medicine from the Jade Purity lineage into my treatments. Through all modalities, I seek to remind the body, mind and spirit of its inherent health and joy.
I practice Classical Chinese Medicine which differs from Traditional Chinese Medicine. Most schools in the United States offer Traditional Chinese Medicine programs which focus mainly on the body and the mind.
I studied at the National University of Natural Medicine in Portland, Or because they offered a Classical Chinese Medicine education. My teachers honor the importance of studying and using the classical texts which focus on interconnectedness of body, mind and spirit. CCM views the human as a reflection of both the heavens and of earth. We are attempting to follow the breath of nature.
Classical Chinese Medicine techniques include acupuncture, moxabustion (moxa), cupping, acupressure and body work, and chinese herbs.
Techniques I currently use during treatment: acupuncture, moxa, bodywork, cupping, essential oils, energy work, breath work, visualization, and diet and lifestyle suggestions, and Japanese tools (non-puncturing) including the Teishin and Zanshin.
